History
Clyde Newcomb was born into a musical family who began playing in bands as a young child in Pennsylvania. As a musician in NYC he met and married Jean Ford Meyers, a modern dancer with whom he had four children. They later divorced and he remarried Ruth Elizabeth Johnson. After traveling the country for years with various Jazz Big Bands, Clyde and Ruth settled down in Virginia Beach and retired. "Pop" was a well know fixture at the fishing pier at Rudee Inlet and drove a Beach Cab while still playing at the Cavalier Hotel with Johnnie Long's band.
